 Yuzuru Hanyu is known as an innovator and risk taker in the world of skating. He became the first figure skater to successfully perform the quadruple toe loop in competition. At that time he did it in Montreal in 2016. At her senior level, Yuzuru has won two Olympic gold medals. The first medal he got from the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. While the second is from the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Apart from that, he has also won gold medals at the 2014 and 2017 World Championships. These achievements do not include four gold medals in the Grand Prix Final event, as well as several other figure skating championships. Throughout his career, with various proud achievements, Yuzuru Hanyu has been nicknamed the 'Ice Prince of Japan'. Unfortunately, some time ago he decided to retire from his profession as a figure skater. Through a press conference on Tuesday (19/7/2022) he announced his decision to the public. Previously, it was known that Yuzuru himself had experienced problems with his ankle ligaments. This made him unable to perform optimally in the last few events he participated in.
